A quick look from today. And.. *ehem* Pardon me while I take a moment to prove a point. Yes Sarah, you do have a very nice “serious” face.

teaching a husband, finding light

My husband, Ryan, and I went out today for a little photography lesson. He has been tagging along with me to wedding after wedding, shoot after shoot and I force a camera in his hand, so it’s about time I give him some instruction right? Seriously though, let’s really ignore the fact that these are pictures of me.

We went out to “find some light” today. And one thing you should know about Ryan is that he’s a designer/illustrator/comic book colorist, but has never really dabbled in photography. Basically, he looks at a ton of comic book art per day, not wedding and portrait photos. He draws light. Now, I’m forcing him to photograph it. And man, I think he NAILED it.

Check those catch lights! Remember, this is the FIRST time I have ever taken him out to shoot like this. With a tiny bit of direction and a less than modely model, I’m so amazed at his natural artistic talent. And I am now thrilled that I get to see his creative growth in another medium!

so, about that free photo session contest

Hey everyone,

I just received an uproariously amusing photo entry for the Class of ‘09 senior session giveaway from a NON-senior, but mother of two. Makes me wonder if I should extend the contest to families and other portrait lovers alike?? Let me know!!!!

The deadline for all entries is still next Wednesday, the 15th, at midnight! That’s in five days! Get it together, email it in!
